Water sensor for a (deep) well

Fri Aug 03, 2018 4:26 pm

Hi all!

I would like to use blmy RPI to measure the level of the water in a well that goes down to 14 m. I was thinking about using the hc-sr04 but it seems to be limited in range. What can I use? I need something that alerts me when the water goes below a certain level (let's say when there are just a couple of meters more). Thank you in advance!

If you just want a indication, if the water is below a certain point. You can use something like this. The only down-side is that you need to add this sensor to a pole. You can also use something like this if you can make it 100% waterproof. But with the same down-side.

First of all thanks for the replies. Insurmountable answers seems rather complicated (at least for me) and there is too much risk of getting the speaker wet (the well is not airtight).
CFLanger can you explain please?
Brandon92 seems the best option for now. :)
