connecting raspberry pi 3 model b+ to SenseHat

Wed Jul 11, 2018 7:27 pm

Hi, complete beginner. After attending picademy workshop and using raspberry pi with SenseHat I was looking forward to experimenting on my own! I can't connect the model b+ to the SenseHat as this model has an extra 4 pins. Cannot find the answer online. If someone could point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks mill!

Hi
Please can you upload some pictures
i.e put it online somewhere and grab the url and use the "img" [tag].

Or alternatively go to the website where you bought the item(s) and paste it here so we can see what you bought.
(i.e images for both the Raspberry Pi 3B+ and the Sense Hat)

I say this because I recently purchased a SenseHat version 1.0 and it has exactly 40 pins 20 x2 and my RaspberryPi 3B+ has exactly 40 pins also,

so I can't see where you get these extra 4 pins you mention?

regards
J

The 4 pins are not a problem, they are for something else and do not get in the way.

While you wait, you can use sense_emu in place of sense_hat . In your python programs at the import module.

I would use stand offs so the Sense Hat stays level and doesn't touch those 4 extra POE pins.

New SenseHats now come with black standoffs

I've had my two for a long while now and can't remember what originally came in the box. ;)

My original ones did not have any other parts with them (from near when they were first released) but my brand new recent one did, they also have different LED's on them, 'square' not 'round' image from them.

I have one I bought when they were first released and another I bought a year or so latter. I don't see me buying another one any time soon though. I'm not happy with a few things I've found after using them for a while.
