Packages from debian you want to see in raspbian repository

This thread is for packages that are present in debian wheezy (or in some cases perhaps sid) and are either not present in the raspbian repository or are present but not installable. Please CHECK whether packages are present and installable before posting.

This thread is not for:

* Packages that are present and installable but not working please use individual threads for such packages or groups of packages as they are likely to require deeper analysis that would choke a general thread.
* Packages that are not present in debian
* Packages that are useless without GPU acceleration and therefore require Pi specific builds.
* Begging for newer versions, raspbians goal is to stick as close to debian as possible

Determine what is available in Debian wheezy or sid by searching on: http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages

Edit from plugwash: if you are going to use that site make sure you select testing (for wheezy) or unstable (for sid) not stable (which will give you info on whether a package is in squeeze)

It seems we don't have librpmbuild1 but we do have librpmbuild3 which seems to be it's successor.

I wonder whether it would help if you could edit your post to include a link to item 12 in the Raspbian FAQ (Do you have a list of all the packages in the Raspbian repository?) or possibly put the link in the post directly. It may be that people do not appreciate the distinction between it being in the image they just downloaded and being in the repository from which they could in principle install it.

Looks like it's failing with an internal compiler error. I'll try to find a workaround.

Well GR-Thunderstorm the whole point of this project is to be educational so if you have learned something it has achieved one part of its goals. We are all learning here in the great University of Life.

Well yeah, if it's not marked as suitable for armhf we won't build it.

Such cases are most likely bugs in debian...

I'll look into getting this fixed in raspbian (and later debian but that always takes a while).

I bought the book "Land of Lisp" which has some very good reviews and just found out there is no clisp package in Raspbian, there's only the clisp-doc available - pretty useless without the binaries

So yes, I'd like to see clisp in the Raspbian repos.

So yes, I'd like to see clisp in the Raspbian repos.

I tried.and failed to get this one to build, I added armhf to the arhitecture lists and tried to build it. It failed with an internal compiler error. I then tried modifying the package to build with gcc-4.7. It got futher but it ultimately failed with.

However there are other common lisp implementations in debian and at least ecl and gcl are available in raspbian. Are either of these usable for you?

Seems this is in a bit of a mess in debian at the moment. Once debian has a package that is building ok on armhf poke me again and i'll try and get it into raspbian.

I tried to do a sudo apt-get install hercules and it couldn't find it.. is there something I am
missing???

Thanks for your effort and the hints to ecl and gcl.

Land of Lisp should arrive tomorrow but from the bits and pieces I read about it on the web it relies on CLisp throughout the book. I'll see how far I can get with other Lisp implementations.
