How do I edit my post?

How in this forum do I edit my post? It is very annoying to complete a post and submit it, and then to notice that you have made some kind of typo and be unable to correct it.

I think editing a post that is already replied to is not allowed for regular users, so try it with a fresh post.

I have always been able to edit any of my posts, be they replied too or not.

Hmm... perhaps not posts in threads that have been locked...never tried.

You can edit or even delete your own post.
If there are any replies after your post then an edit message will appear at the bottom of your post showing number of edits an date of last edit.
If there are no replies after your post then you can edit as many times as you want with no edit message.

I don't think either the new software or the reorganisiation has changed the edit behaviour. AFAICT the behaviour was and is as hippy described (and demonstrated). Not so sure about deletion -- that may only be allowed before a reply is posted.

Deletion or replies has always been possible until someone has posted another reply in my experience.

As the OP hasn't been back, we might reasonably assume the second post answered the question.

Different forums use different interfaces - he might be used to a forum that actually has the word "edit" somewhere around the post.

That post shows the default PHP blue skin, not the RPI's forums skin in either full screen or mobile.

In the default mobile skin, it's bottom left of your post and the pencil icon. Stick your finger on it and it says EDIT.
(Next is 'delete', then 'report' and then 'quote' if available)

What a great idea. Someone should have thought of it earlier, it's so obvious. Why don't we make user interfaces that are actually helpful? Especially GUI ones.

No seriously, I have been hearing about good GUI design for decades, there are thousands of GUI design "experts" around. Many books written about it. There have been GUI standards and recommendations from the likes of Apple and MS since they ever had a GUI. But it seems GUI's have been getting worse and worse recently.

One forum I frequent has an "edit" button. But it's hidden behind a gear icon, presumably where setting or tools might go, but as there is only one option there "edit" why not just have a pencil icon on the post itself, or the word "Edit"?

Then there are GUI's where such tools are hidden behind icons that don't even show up. Invisible until you hover the mouse over where they should be. How nuts is that?
