I was given a Raspberry Pi 2 as part of a university project and one of the things I'm trying to do is upgrade it to a Raspberry Pi 3B+.
The code base on the RPi 2 is far too large and requires too much setup to manually port everything over to the 3B+ so I am trying to upgrade the
RPi 2 SD card so it works on the new 3B+ using the sudo apt-get update/ sudo apt-get upgrade commands.
Issues I am facing with this include:
[*]The RPi 2 does not have a GUI so I am unable to connect to the internet to run the update command.
[*]I'm trying to connect to the internet using the command terminal but I can't find where/how to do it.
[*]I was told I can run the upgrade command locally by installing the upgrade on a USB drive and pointing the upgrade to the USB when calling the command, however, I am not sure how to do this.
[*]I was also told I can install a GUI on a local USB drive and install it to the Pi through that so I can then connect to the internet through the GUI, but again, I'm not sure how to do this.
If there are any other suggestions on how to port over the system from the RPi 2 to the RPi 3B+, please let me know.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
