Wifi config product-like

Wed May 16, 2018 11:05 pm

I'm making a product based on the RPi3, is there a tool that facilitates the connection between the RPi and the local wifi network?
Like hosting a website with the wifi networks available and so on... Something like the omega2 does out of the box. I would also appreciate if you tell me if this has a name.

The Google ChromeCast works like this and the Gemina2 seems similar:

Chromecast fires up, puts out a Wi-Fi signal as an unsecured Access Point.

You connect to this unsecured open Wi-Fi via the Google Home App.

You tell Chromecast the logon credentials of your Wi-Fi.

The chromecast disables the Access Point and and logs onto the Home Wi-Fi.

You will likely have to write your own software "glue" to undertake a similar function in whatever Operating System you intend to install.....
adieu

My other Computer is an Asus CS10 ChromeBit running Chrome Operating System.
HP Envy 4500 Wireless Printer supported by HPLIP software in Raspbian Stretch.

The Mozzilla IoT Things Gateway for Raspberry Pi3B boots up as an AP to allow WiFi setup. Note you do not need to have a radio dongle to try out the feature, also the source code is open source.
