Can this damage the Pi by any chance ? Or is it harmless ?

It is very unlikely to cause any damage to the hardware of the RPi board itself.
But it is certainly not harmless: that's why the nice people at the Raspberry Pi Foundation have gone to the trouble of alerting you to the problem.
Low voltage can cause your Operating System to malfunction in unpredictable ways, and can cause unrecoverable corruption of data being written to the microSD card that contains the system. Not 'Will' cause, but might...
