Suggestions for LCD Please

Sun Mar 25, 2018 2:10 am

Hello

We track balloons and I would like a text style LCD to show

Identity
Latitude
Longitude
Distance
Direction
Lock ?

Suggestions for a Pi compatible HAT that would fit a Pi that can be programmed in Python or perl ?

Take a look at the various displays Adafruit has. It depends on what you actually want. Do you just want a numeric display, e.g. a "seven segment" type or a dot-matrix, or do you want a general purpose display with enough resolution and area to show the data you want displayed? If it were me, I'd probably go with the RPF 7" display that connects to the DSI port. I'm assuming that this is to be used on the ground....

That's what confuses me

How do you do characters on a graphics display ?

If it was character based it would have to be many lines

Easiest way is to display a terminal window and put your text in that. It has all the programming needed to do so....
