If all you want is Raspbian, you don't need NOOBS. Grab a copy of plain Raspbian, install a copy of Etcher (from https://etcher.io). Use Etcher to overwrite your NOOBS card with plain Raspbian (no formatting needed, no unzipping of the Raspbian download needed).

If you want multi-boot, switch from NOOBS to PINN.

Could we have a separate Pi3+ one.. in fact could you make all the different models conditional rather than ranges while you are at it.

No rush as I doubt many use them or know about them. Just means I need to be more careful between card swapping.

There used to be--as I recall--2A RPF PSUs, back when the Pi2B was the top of the line.

Well, it says 16GB A1 ... the files all have a datestamp of 14/03/2018 ...

That is interesting because the website shows what appears to be a class 10 SanDisk card but no mention of the A1 rating. I suspect a better SD card will help realize the benefits of the improved networking speed of the 3B+ when used as a file server.

Along these lines, does anyone have network latency measurements for the Pi 3B+? Using the four computers a 1.4Ghz AMD Athlon, a 2.8Ghz AMD Athlon64X2, a Pi 2B and a Pi 3B connected by a 100mbit switch I obtain

Ping from Athlon to Athlon64X2 gives time=0.194 ms
Ping from Athlon to Pi 2B gives time=0.423 ms
Ping from Athlon to Pi 3B gives time=0.463 ms

I wonder if network latency decreases with the 3B+ updates and GB switch. If anyone has a GB switch, a PC, a Pi 3B and a 3B+, would it be possible to compare

Ping PC to Pi 3B
Ping PC to Pi 3B+

and report back to see if there is any improvement between the 3B and 3B+ when all are connected to the same GB switch?

Pity that there is still no wifi connector for external wifi antenna... rf shielding is fun with internal antenna just at side of the chip From my tests on rpi3 (and same on rpi2 with wifi adapter connected right on a rpi usb port, without an usb extension cable) the rpi on it's own (specially when hdmi is connected, and depending on the images that will be displayed) causes considerable interference on wifi...

Not sure how it's possible to be annoyed by it, but yes, it's the same slot. AIUI, we switched to the friction hold type because push-push slots were very fragile and resulted in increase in returns.

That rather depends on your definition of "LONG time". For my 10-year-old grandson, a year would be a long time. For me--at 68--a year isn't that long. I only worry about living long enough to see future products.

1. the push-push slot was replaced for a friction fit slot on Pi 3, 2 years ago.
2. you should buy a better HDMI cable if you're experiencing interference issues. I'm not sure what good an external antenna connector would do if your HDMI cable was blasting RF interference all over the place.

Have you checked the UK sources? Shipping isn't any more expensive (and may be less) and the transit time is about the same.

Ran a test: no heatsink, all four arm cores churning away overnight. The 2837 flip-chip packaging / PCB heatsink did it's job nicely - no throttling, around 67C, with the task completed in ~12 hours. That same task demands a decent heatsink & ~14 hours on a Pi3. Good job! Dare say it'll need some extra cooling mid-summer though.

Should've stated, in that test the Pi was in the vertical plane, propped on its long short edge. No case either.

Edit: correct orientation discovered on retrieving Pi3B+ this morning: Pi was stood upright on USB/ethernet sockets.

I do understand the reason for the change but it makes it rather difficult to pull the card out when it's in a case with just a hole which leaves it flush to the outside edge. The push-push connector allowed a card to be popped out using a fingernail, matchstick or similar. It is much harder to get a push-pull card out when the Pi is in a case and there's not a lot of clearance on the socket side.

Most annoying is getting used to push-pull then forgetting that older Pi's are push-push, pulling the card out and damaging the socket.

More annoying is rebooting my A+, B+ and 2B unexpectedly when I've pressed on the SDCard by accident while pulling a USB device out. Good riddance to the spring loaded slot.

I prefer the spring load, get really annoyed at the Pi3 when it been nudged in a case or similar (like the Google Voice) and doesn't start.
Bring back the spring load I say. So much easier and not having to get pliers to pull the SD card out.

on mine that still have only micro sdcards in I use a small sticky label on the micro sdcard to give it a bit of purchase ....
