For the purpose for which the Pi was invented, Android is a trap. It hides the actual computer away where you can't get at the system to so anything other than the very limited repertoire of canned applications.
It is entirely possible to develop one's own Android Apps and many people do.
Besides it doesn't seem the OP is that interested in what the Pi was originally intended for, but is more wanting to use it as a consumer as many other Pi users do. many Pi users are not interested in learning about computers, understanding how computers work, are mostly interested in wanting to achieve whatever they want to do. Many simply want to run Kodi, Minecraft or some other application, choose the Pi because it's a cheap option.
It is true the Pi allows for a lot more, but many Pi users aren't interested in any of that.
