Convert .IMG files to SquashFS .IMG files

Fri Dec 29, 2017 11:02 pm

Hello there
I want to install the latest version of Retropie on my PI 3, on berryboot. However, the latest IMG i can download from the list provided within BerryBoot is Retropie 3.8, and I want the 4.2 (latest) release of Retropie. I want the last version because with this old version, I have trouble importing n64 roms into this OS. So I tried to import a .IMG file downloaded from the internet, but BerryBoot tells me I need to convert them to SquashFS. Please help me, my only computer is this Raspberry Pi 3. I dont have any other computer (besides my android 7.0 tablet)

So in short, I would like:
- Import n64 roms on retropie (and play them lol)
- Have retropie 4.2 insalled in Berryboot
- Convert the Retropie .IMG file to SquashFS .IMG format.

Thanks alot for the help guys!!

I believe you would need to extract the original .img file, then re compress it using sqashfs to obtain what your needing - short answer you probably won't be able to with what you've got.

Are you saying that begging doesn't work on volunteers? Odd.

In fact, most would expect that, in general and across spheres of human activity, begging is more likely to work on volunteers than on paid staff.

I already read all of these. The commands doesnt work on Raspbian, and the Retropie website only provides an .img file, not a SquashFS image. Thanks for searching tho.

Those commands should all be available on Raspbian (well, particularly sed and mount). Have you tried:

Code: Select all

sudo apt install kpartx squashfs-tools

Please read the link I posted above it explains how to convert .img files, if it is not working ask the Berryboot Developers to support their software.
