I am looking for a simple way to 'safely' shut down a Rpi - without going through the sudo poweroff process.
I can see pulling a Rpi board in to reset by shorting the reset pins together is not the best way to get the board into a safe state before cutting the power but will it ensure I avoid corrupting the SD card ? The Rpi is not doing anything that writes to the SD card other than anything Linux is doing in the background. I can be relativity certain the Rpi will be able to complete any start-up processes before being turned off in this way, so I would not be resetting it part way through start-up.
I have tried quite a few times over the weekend and it seems ok but it would be good to know if I have just been luck !
