Firefox 49 audio very noisy and garbled

Mon Dec 05, 2016 5:51 am

I have pi 3 with jessie. I installed firefox from a deb package.
My firefox version is: firefox:armhf 49.0+build4-0ubuntu0.14.04.1
I tried update/upgrade everything else but problem persists.
The problem is both on youtube site videos as well as mp4 files played from a link directly.
The video is fine but audio is extremely noisy and garbled.
I have checked the mp4 files to work with omxplayer and on chromium-browser with no audio issues or video issues on my system.

any suggestions ?
Thanks much in advance

You should of installed firefox-esr from the repository !!

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install firefox-esr
https://packages.debian.org/jessie/firefox-esr
Retired disgracefully.....

Have you checked in raspi-config for the correct audio setting: analog vs digital?

that is all good. It is set correctly and it plays audio from other programs like omxplayer and chromium-browser only not with firefox.
