I want to save resources in order to use them in my tasks, so I always want a ultra-lightweight and fast / optimized OS.
PIXEL saves CPU cycles or RAM usage in Desktop or real-life software over Raspbian Jessie??
There are no significant performance optimisations in PIXEL over the previous Jessie release, other than some kernel tweaks and the change to a 32-bit framebuffer by default. (Which will accelerate some applications and slow down others, so it's likely to be performance-neutral overall.) We're not really looking at making performance optimisations to the core OS or DE; there are some VideoCore-optimised low-level libraries used for functions like memcpy, but that's about it.
Where we are making performance optimisations is in specific applications, such as the web browser and Scratch.
Thanks a lot for your reply!
I would be pleased if I see soon several optimizations on GPU, RAM and CPU usage, or reach same performance using less resources.
In your opinion, what's the best lightweight browser with HW acceleration to surf on Internet or watching vídeos ??
Iceweasel, Chromium, Epiphany....
My best regards to Raspberry Pi team !!
