Moderators Please Read

Tue Sep 20, 2016 2:09 am

I was going to send an email but the Contact Us page on the official site strongly suggests the use of the forums.

For personal reasons I would like my name removed from the comments on the blogs at raspberrypi.org. It appears at these three links as in the comments:

https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/the-ma ... -magazine/
https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/issue- ... as-landed/
https://www.raspberrypi.org/blog/window ... rter-pack/

Could you please remove my comments or at least my name? Its nothing personal but I like to keep my online profile as minimal as possible. I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, I still love what y'all are doing and just got my new Pi3 :-). Thank you for your time and consideration!

For some reason I'm having trouble figuring out how to delete those posts - maybe one of the other mods can do it?

That's a sure way to bring attention to your name. Ever hear of the "Streisand effect"?

Besides it's hopeless, those pages are already recorded everywhere by Google caches, not to mention all the other search engines, the Way Back Machine, the NSA and so on.

@Heater I would still like them removed. I am not worried about NSA or something, I just like to not have stuff coming up on the front page when I search my name in Google. Sorry if I did not make myself clear. If one of the Mods could do this I would greatly appreciate it!

You need to write to Liz. She owns the blog.

As far as I'm concerned you should be proud to sign your own work. There's no way to hide from Google so why bother.

I can log in to the dashboard, but unable to edit any blog comments. Used to be able to. Think this one has to go to Liz!

Not sure how you are going to get your name removed from back issues of the MagPi pdfs. All there in google search results.

@Heater If you click the link that is actually not a back issue but the blog post announcing that issue when it was current. No matter how stupid it sounds or I am I would like my name removed.

I mean inside a back issue from Sep 2015. Like this: https://www.raspberrypi.org/magpi-issues/MagPi37.pdf

While that may not be achievable there is nothing wrong with him wanting old comments on blog posts to be removed.

While there is nothing wrong with asking, the RPF may not want to do it for reasons of historical integrity to the threads, especially if there are replies to his posts. In that case, either the replies would also have to be removed or they would lose context.
