Sorry for the idiocy here. I have been out of circulation for awhile and my pi's have been dormant. I am now getting back into things and was going to attempt to set up a static IP address. So to do this I first did an apt-get update. I was amazed that the command line was telling me that my update was going to take 4 Days 21 hours and 43 seconds? Or something close but equally shocking. I thought this was some quirk of programming as when the update actually started to work, the count down clock would move down to 2 hours remaining, then 40 mins remaining then back up to 17 hours remaining. This went on for about 5 hours before I went to bed for the night. I let the pi keep "updating" and it never finished, it got to about line 2000 and something before I killed the power thinking that this "Ain't Right". I have been using the pi since with no apparent impact? So my question, finally is, why did this take so long and by chance did it upgrade me to Jessie without my knowing. If it did it would explain my difficulty in establishing a static IP address. As I am stuck. I also can not re-connect with it using VNC viewer and TightVNCserver. It used to work beautifully, but unfortunately It has been so long since I set it up, I can't remember how I did it and can't find my notes.
Lots go on there for someone with the time,
As always, thanks,
