Help with Motorola Atrix lap dock connection to Pi please

Sat Nov 08, 2014 12:41 pm

Hi all,

I spent a substantial amount of time and money organising a lap dock and cables since Picademy showed how portable and accessible this would make the Pi. (I have the B+)

After all bits were in the house last night...it won't work! :?

I know the lap dock works, as direct connection from power to Pi and the micro female to male HDMI adapter combined produces the required result. However, with the cables connected as displayed....nothing. It is also fully charged.

I have this (type B) -

and this -

I am not sure if one cable is faulty, should I be returning them, making a trip to Maplins? Or am I just missing something obvious?

Thanks.

Louise

Update...

It's working now, albeit without the HDMI extension which seemed to be the culprit. All a bit crammed around the Atrix lap dock ports without it though.
Maplin wasn't any help...
And I adjusted the screen resolution and overscan in /boot/config.txt

Told my headteacher that I was now a Raspberry Pi certified teacher. He replied by saying a sports coaching badge he had been awarded didn't make him a better teacher...lovely encouragement. In front of my class.

Thanks. Happy to hear that this cable http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/261631280581 is not the problem. As the producer of that cable, any other feedback is appreciated.
P.S. I am planning on an HDMI cable for the lapdock. Something like this:

Once you have both you're fully equipped!
