Cables for lapdock

Fri Jul 18, 2014 12:56 pm

Hi Everybody

I've got myself a lapdock and I'm trying to sort out the cables to connect to my B+.

I've read loads of posts, especially some by Dave about Y-shaped cables, but I really just want to use the same ones we had at Picademy.

Did we use the following:
USB - a USB male to micro USB female cable (with a switch on it??)?
HDMI - A HDMI male to micro HDMI male cable with a micro HDMI female-female adaptor/coupler?

I can't find the USB cable we used and most of the posts I've read just use an adapter, but I want a cable - so the pi sits away from my lapdock.

For the HDMI the only micro HDMI female to female adapter I can find is in China!!!

Can you let us know where you got the cables for Picademy from?

Many thanks
Christine

Thanks Matthew they look great, although you may need to shave a bit off the HDMI adapter to fit them both side by side on the lapdock. I've seen lots of blogs/posts where people have had to do it!

I'd still like to know where Picademy got theirs from!

Hi there,
I just came across this supplier in the UK. perhaps a touch on the expensive side but from experience I know it can be very fiddly to DIY these cables.
4D : Product info for USB/Power & HDMI cable Set Atrix Lapdock to Raspberry Pi B+ etc. plus Real Time Clock with SuperCaps

Hello, I just ordered my Astrix, any idea where can I get those cables (B+ Pi) for a cheap price? That one from ebay is no longer available

Thank you.
