Picademy in Baltimore Aug 13 - 14, 2016

Wed May 04, 2016 5:05 pm

Greeting Educators!

I just wanted to make sure that the word got out that there's a new Picademy on the calendar for the United States. It'll be held August 13 - 14 at the Digital Harbor Foundation in Baltimore, Maryland. More details here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/picademy/usa/dhf/

Thanks,
Matt

Matt is there a specific hotel that everyone is staying at and will there be transportation from the hotel. Where can I find that information?

In the past, we haven't set up a hotel room block or provided transportation. If this Picademy is an exception to that, then information will be provided to accepted applicants in early July.

Matt,

I completed an application a few weeks ago for the Picademy in Baltimore. Perhaps no big deal, but I did not remember receiving a confirmation upon submission. Is there a way I can view my application status just to make sure that it was received? The Picademy sounds fantastic. For what it's worth, I now have 82 kids who have signed up for my new Computer Science course at my high school, and I have arranged for all 82 of them to purchase Pi3/touchscreens over the summer.

Hey Sean,

There's no method for applicants to view the application status after it has been submitted. Based on your forum username, I do see your application in the system.

Thanks,
Matt

I'm so happy to see that there is one coming to the East Coast. As a point of reference, how many people typically apply? Just wondered if my chances were pretty good, or whether playing the PowerBall was a better bet.

Thanks!
Michael

Hi Michael,

Demand for Picademy in the United States is very high, so we get a LOT of applications and we'll have to say no to hundreds of amazing educators for this workshop in Baltimore. So it's not exactly PowerBall odds, but it is very competitive. With time, we hope to expand the program so that we can satisfy this incredible demand. Patience is appreciated!

Can we also apply for the Picademy in the UK if there are more spots available?
