How to get a 2nd Camera Adapter Board?

I want to run 2 cameras on a CMIO board.
The board comes with one camera and one display adapter board.
However neither Farnell nor RS stock the adapter boards as separate items and buying a 2nd CMIO board just to get a 2nd camera adapter board is somewhat extreme...
So how do I get a 2nd camera adapter?
Cheers,
-Gordon

I'd like to know too...
http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... 57#p599457
I emailed both Farnell and RS, and Farnell said "Our product manager for these isn't back until the week after next, so I've no way of finding out until then", and RS have yet to reply
Which I guess means it'll be hard for anyone to test

6by9 loses his access to the development tools?

I received the following (slightly confusing) email from RS today (Monday), so I've emailed them back asking for clarification.
Please note the Raspberry Pi and accessories can no longer be purchased through the Pi store; however you may find an answer to your question using the link below.
http://www.raspberrypi.org/phpBB3/
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
(From
http://uk.rs-online.com/web/generalDisp ... aspberrypi it's obvious that they
are still selling Raspberry Pis and accessories

)
Bit frustrating to have a Compute Module IO board, and two Raspi Cameras, and software that now supports stereoscopic mode, but no way to actually use (or even test) two cameras at once

I did tweet to both RS & CPC - CPC came back with a brief reply along the lines of "we'll see what we can do" ..

I'll ping the Foundation and see what the plan is here - clearly they need to be available!

Thanks.
Probably not huge quantities, but it would be nice to have!

Gordon & AndrewS: I've an adaptor board I don't expect to use for a couple of months, if either of you are doing some development work, I could loan it to one of you! Can I suggest you talk to each other about your planned use, and hopefully agree which use will benefit the community most? please email me
chris@cjemicros.co.uk n.b. I'm in the Sussex, I think both of you are in the UK.

Gordon would undoubtedly benefit from it more than I.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not doing dev. work on the CM. I got a CM+IO board simply to test wiringPi, but I now have plans to use it for a daytime/nighttime garden camera with both a normal and noir camera on-board (and a ring of IR and visible white LEDs which I can control) Ultimately I'll do a write-up on it, but I don't think it's anything spectacular - its more a mechanical problem for me - making a relatively rain proof box for it all and possibly even a pan/tilt mechanism.
I'm in no real rush though.

My email to RS finally filtered through to the right person, and I got this reply:
RS are not listing the camera adaptor boards I would suggest going directly to the Raspberry pi Foundation

There's a word (starting with "W") to describe that, but I can't use it in a family forum.

No. It rhymes with "bankers" (and curiously describes those money grabbing scum in great detail).

I suspect it's just an oversight - no point name calling - the CMIO board is really intended as a "proof of concept" or "reference design" for others to use as their final product board - so one display and one camera module was probably all that people thought they'd need.
However I suspect that there are only a small number of us interested in 2 cameras, so all it would take is either RS or Farnell to "man up" and produce a small number - probably less than a couple of hundred and the first to do so will get fame and glory and praise from the community...

Yeah, since they had to do an additional manufacturing run of camera and display adaptors anyway (since the initial ones shipped with the DevKit
were incorrect), I'd been assuming they'd make a few more than needed, and then make them available for sale separately... Seems that was a false assumption!

I need this too!
any update on if and when this is available... I don't want to send back the devkit just due to this oversight (providing 2 ports, and then only one adaptor!?).

Chatting to Eben at the CamJam last weekend, I think there is hope... All we need to do in hang in there for a little longer and with a bit of luck a small number of boards may be available via the swag shop... (or something like that)

Hi
Since it seems buying a 2nd camera board is too difficult I was thinking of making one, or at least an alternative source of connecting the picam to the compute IO board.
Does anyone have more detailed information on the CSI ribbon used on the adaptor since I can't seem to be able to source one.
I was wondering if a simple single custom CSI cable that has different widths but the same number of connectors at either end will work or does the adapter board does anything more than just shrink the connection size.
Thanks
Aysar

Thanks for that
I will look into finding a company to make a simple adapter.
Will keep you posted

I am interested in getting an additional camera adapter board too... Hopefully someone will bring it to market for a reasonable price soon!
