Trying to figure out how I an make my custom PCB more easily interchangeable should a sensor break I can easily swap out a new one. This would be a commercialised product but won't be released I suspect for at least another year or 2 as currently working on the 1st version and this for like version 4-5.0.
I've opted for a card edge connector to be mount onto the PCB using the EB43-S3R066FS https://www.mouser.co.uk/ProductDetail/ ... qWXtB1M%3d and to have a 6 finger connector on the PCB that the manufacturer will supply the sensor on (custom order).
Now the EB43 says it has 6 positions that will support the finger connector however upon reading into the datasheet it says it will have 6 positions on each side.
As far as I'm aware finger connectors on a PCB are 1 sided, so should I be worried about getting this edge connector or can I rest at ease by getting it and only connecting the finger connections that I actually need to the pins from the edge connector? Because out of the 6 finger connectors I only need to use 3 of them; however for stability and security I opted for 6 fingers.
