Can CM3L be used as the same way as original pi?
Possible to make a customized io board with SD card, wifi and same 40-pin GPIOs, and running stock raspbian?
Re: Can CM3L be used as the same way as original pi?
I don’t see any reason why not.

You might want to look into element14s Raspberry Pi customization service.

After a little bit search, it seems that it might be cheaper to customize Pi3 (eliminate ports, reduce size) rather than make a customized CM3 IO board + CM3L. Any thoughts?

It really depends on the volume.
A CM-based system also allows you to tailor the carrier board to the exact shape needed, and add any special interfaces.

Re: Can CM3L be used as the same way as original pi?
We developed a Proto Codec Board ("Hat") for the Pi 3 booting from an SD card. When we plug the same SD Card into a CM3 IO Board using the same Proto Codec connected to the same GPIO Points it does not work correctly. Any thoughts?

@BudO Start a new topic. And you may want to, I dunno, give some details about how it doesn't work correctly?

@rzusman do you have a rough number on the estimation?
