ssh over usb to a Compute Module 3

Sat Feb 10, 2018 11:29 pm

Is it possible to ssh over usb to a Compute Module 3 using the Compute Module IO Board V3 in a similar way to how it is done on a Pi Zero?

Here is information on how it can be done on a Pi Zero - https://www.thepolyglotdeveloper.com/20 ... cable-ssh/.

I'm using Raspbian Stretch Lite (Nov. 2017 release). I followed the information given for connecting to the Pi Zero, but add dtoverlay=dwc2 to the config.txt file causes an error while booting (it scrolls too fast to see), and also prevents me from logging in directly to the Pi.

If you use the dwc2 driver, it supports both device and host modes, but uses the OTG_ID pin to decide on which mode to choose, we currently have a pull down on the OTG_ID pin to default it to host mode...

What you'll need to do is to force it into peripheral mode using dtoverlay=dwc2,dr_mode=peripheral

That will then set it up as a peripheral...

Think that's likely to be your problem

Were you ever able to get it running? I'm currently having the same issue, I did what you suggested with the ID and am still not able to get it to detect on my windows machine. I have a computer module 3 and am running Rasbian Stretch lite, October 2018.

So you're still getting the error message in dmesg at bootup? Can you paste the relevant bit of the message
