Connection Lan 9514 and Computer Module V3

Thu Sep 14, 2017 11:01 am

Hello everyone
I am new in Raspberry pi Computer Module 3 and I face problem.I am trying to make my own board to host the Computer Module V3, and I would like to use the LAN9514 as on the RPi Model B+
The schematic shown in documentation on RPi Model B+ is not complete. "http://www.raspberrypi.org/documentatio ... /README.md"
Is there anyone can help me that have schematic which shows connection between CM V3 and Lan 9514?

Please help me
thank you in Advance
best regards

If the LAN9514 chip has a crystal attached to it for its clock source, the only connection you need between the CM and the LAN9514 is a USB link. I know this to be true because I plugged a LAN9514 eval board into a CM+CMIO using a USB cable and it just worked. You can also leave off the LAN9514 configuration EEPROM, and the Pi will detect that it is unconfigured and set it up with a MAC address based on the CPU's serial number.
The standard Pi boards save on the crystal by getting the Pi to generate a 25MHz clock signal. Version 1 and 2 Pis generated ETH_CLK on GPIO44, and version 3 Pis generate it on GPIO42. I haven't yet figured out how to arrange this, I suspect it will involve setting up a device tree overlay.

Hi
Thank you so much Michael because of your attention
I connect CM V3 to LAN9514 as you said but now I face another problem
The Ethernet of LAN9514 is not activated until I connected the USB Host and it is not good because I want to use only Ethernet.
Is this problem related to Hardware or Software?
Could you please help me How I can this problem?

Best Regards

If you mean that you have to have the LAN9514's USB connected to the CM, and USB running on the CM, well yes, the ethernet on the LAN9514 runs from USB. The chip is basically a 5-port USB hub with an internal USB ethernet adaptor using one of those 5 ports.

If that's not what you mean, could you clarify please?

Thank you so much rpdom because of your Time
In my case, I have to plug in USB Upstream of LAN9514 to Enable Ethernet, though I need only Ethernet.when I plug in USB Upstream, the consuming current of LAN9514 is changed and the Ethernet is enabled but when the USB Upstream is not plugged in, the Ethernet is disable and the consuming current of LAN9514 is low,
Is this possible to use the Ethernet without plug in USB?
what is my wrong?

thank you in Advance
