Will there be an modernised Compute Module?

Wed May 04, 2016 9:12 am

4.5.2016

The current version needs modernising with at least RPi 2 - much better RPi 3 - , 1 GB RAM and a 16GB EMMC.
Then it would really be useful and one would be able to make some really powerful devices.

Anyone else interested or am I being too demanding?

Have you missed the various posts stating a CM3 would be released in 2016 and a CM2 would not be released ??????

There won't be a compute v2 - it will be based on the pi3

Same form factor as v1, and will fit in existing CM IO board apparently.

As for when... this from eben on 29th feb:
We expect to introduce a BCM2837-based Compute Module 3 in the next few months. We’ll be demoing Compute Module 3 at our partners’ launch events this morning.

Seems to me the compute module V3 is having similar problems to the Zero - too many people buying the 3 B.

So tell your friends not to buy a Pi until Sony have caught up with everything else!
