Camera / display connectors

Sun May 01, 2016 9:52 am

This is a really dumb question, but I can't see how these connectors work. Which bit pulls up or opens? I don't want to break them.

No, I'm afraid not, it shows a raspberry pi not a compute io board and the connectors are different.

The connectors are the same basic design. Tug the clip gently until it moves, slide the cable in, press the clip home.

Thanks. Sorry to be stupid, do you tug forwards, backwards, or up?

You don't seem to have much finesse, but I think 'stupid' might be too harsh a label to pin on oneself.

Never give up; sooner or later, you'll get it right.

Update - With the release of the new Zero with the same connectors, I have taken advantage of a couple of videos people have posted and can now see how to use the connector.
I had not realised that it is the small black part of the connector rather than the bigger white part that moves.

Easy when you know how.

Slightly off topic...has anyone tried using the Pi Zero camera cable with a dev CM carrier board? I've seen pictures of using the dev carrier adapter boards with a Pi Zero, so the reverse hook up *ought* to work....

To the best of my knowledge the Pi Zero camera connector is the same as the CM connector. So a Pi Zero camera flex should work directly on CM.

Waiting for PI zero schematic to be sure.

Yes, the connector is that same, and--yes--the cable should work. I just haven't seen anyone say that they have actually done so.

I've managed to break two of these little black clamps trying to swap the DISP0 and DISP1 connectors - they are really fragile.

Has anyone got a part number (RS, CPC or wherever) so I can try and replace the clamps on the broken ones.

The black part of the connectors needs to be pulled (for opening) or pushed (for closing) carefully in a horizontal movement. THEY DO NOT FLIP CLOSE/OPEN!
