Help with screen 50 pin 7DD1 + 1FPC to Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:05 pm

I've recently bought the Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ and wanted a touchscreen to use with it, I went to eBay and naively bought: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264063900968?ul_noapp=true

This is 7DD1 + 1FPC
50 pin

Is it possible to connect this to the Raspberry Pi via HDMI?
If so, is there any examples of how to connect the 50 pins via an expansion board to the HDMI?

Thank you.

Sorry to say do not hold your breath on a fix - theoretically the cable should be a standard but I’d not risk my Pi on trying it. The FPC part shows the connector type but not pin out.

You would have to track down a converter board assuming you can find what the pin out is. If you can find the main chip you may have some luck...

Best bet is to email the seller and ask how it plugs into the Pi and when they cannot answer push for a refund. Who knows - you may get your money back without having to return it and then you can frame it

By the way - you did not get a right angled USB lead in there did you - they owe me one still
Need Pi spray - these things are breeding in my house...

This should have come with a controller/adapter board bigger than the RPi itself. If all you got is the raw screen then you have been misled:
The title of the listing says:
For Raspberry Pi 7" Touch Screen Module 800X480 Resolution LCD Display HDMI NEW
I would return the screen for not as described......
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated Raspbian Stretch w/ Desktop OS.

Sorry to say (again and again): THERE IS NO STANDARD DISPLAY CABLE! Even if all of them have 50pins. Pinout depends on LCD maufacturers and/or (first) customers specification!

That any connector has an x-number of pins says *nothing* at all about what it does, and where it is compatible with.
the only thing it gives you is the number of wires used, that is *all*........
