Gertduino doesn't reset (loops blink - not responding)

Fri Apr 03, 2015 6:46 am

Hi,

I purchased a Gertduino quite a while back, dusted it off and installed all the necessary software. I then proceeded to upload the blink.hex file which worked fine. However, everytime I turn on the Pi the blink program keeps running, and therefore when I uploaded a hex for my DMDhttp://www.freetronics.com.au/products/ ... -32x16-red avrdude would say:

Code: Select all

avrdude.bin: AVR device not responding
avrdude.bin: initialization failed, rc=-1
Double check connections and try again, or use -F to override
             this check.

avrdude.bin done. Thank you.
When I tried to reset the Atmega using

Code: Select all

avrdude -c gpio -p m328p -e -v
it returned the same error. Rebooting, moving the reset jumper pins around did not help.
I believe I had this problem a while ago and somehow I managed to fix it, now it's back again  . Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

EDIT: I noted that when you run the reset_on script the blink stops. But when I go to upload my .hex file it simply starts again.

However, every time I turn on the Pi the blink program keeps running, and therefore when I uploaded a hex....
The Arduino processor(s) will start running at power up unless the reset pin is low.
This is normal behavior. You should be able to upload a hex program even if it is running
as the AVRDUDE SW uses/overrides the Reset pin and programs the device.
I am afraid the 'therefore' conclusion is not applicable. It looks like you have another problem
but I can't think immediate what is causing it not to respond.

Have you looked here:

Thanks, I worked it out finally :D
Apparently the Gertduino doesn't like it when boards are connected when uploading.

Thanks for the help anyway
