Does it work on an A+?

I can't imagine why they wouldn't work on an A+, there is no difference in the pin-out of the GPIO between the B+ and the A+ (as far as I know). Perhaps this is a rhetorical question?

I have one of the older (26 pin header) Neosec "3.5 display only" on a Raspberry Pi Model A and I am very happy with it. Works well with Notro's fbtft.

Hello

neosec tft display and touch use spi signals

in A+ and B+ / Pi2 the spi signals are at the same pin number on the connector

so same pcb can be used

But the GPIO number used for these spi are different in A+ and B+/Pi2

the advantage of new image is that these GPIOs are now configurable

we give full credit to Notro for this wonderful job done by him

so theoretically it should work on A+

since we have not yet tested on A+ we have not mentioned A+ in our post

once we test it on A+ we will mention same on our post

Do they come without the breakout board for sing more gpio pins, I don't need to use the gpio for anything besides the screen
Engineers like to solve problems. If there are no problems handily available, they will create their own problems.

hello

the breakout board is designed in such a way that it can be easily detached by applying slight pressure

similar to the perforated paper for easy tearing

we can also ship it without the breakout board

Do you plan to make displays using DPI interface instead of SPI for A+/B+/Pi2? This is not DSI but DPI as described here
http://blog.reasonablycorrect.com/raw-dpi-raspberry-pi/ The advantage is speed and full 3D acceleration for lower price (?) when compared to HDMI based solution.

Hello

there may be a better speed with DPI

but than major GPIO are exhausted and for price we think HDMI with higher resolution will be still cost effective compare to price indication given in your blog link

you can visit below link for our 7 inch HDMI series to get price indication

Hi,

I have ordered 1 3.5 inch TFT display (http://www.neosecsolutions.com//product ... 8&cPath=17).

Do you have an update compiled image for this product? The one provided is very dated and all instructions in regard to building a new image are out-of-date as some repos have moved or are no longer supported.
If you have new image or new instructions for building new image with updated repo, this would be great!

Also, Do you have a case available? Trying to avoid customizing a case.

Thanks.

I have that display. It is actually supported in the kernel that is supplied with Raspbian, as long as it is reasonably up-to-date. Just add the following to config.txt

Code: Select all

HI afrog2, sorry just realized that I probably haven't given you enough information. If you want the Desktop on your TFT display and/or if you want the boot messages to be displayed on your TFT display it will take a little bit more to set it up.

So first add the following to config.txt

Code: Select all

dtoverlay=tinylcd35
you may want to rotate the display (as the display is 320x480 rather than 480x320). I use:

Code: Select all

dtoverlay=tinylcd35,rotate=270
Now reboot.

If you want the boot messages to appear follow these instructions on Notro's wiki.

To start the desktop on the TFT, follow the instructions from here.
