Hi,
I'm trying to load Raspbian onto an SD card using my Macbook. Apparently a loading app is required. I found this one:
RPi-sd card builder v1.2
Has anyone used this one or is there another that is popular?
Thanks.

There are links on this site's 'Downloads' page to instructions for writing images using Windows, Mac and Linux.

Re: SD Card for Raspbian
Thanks.
On the site, the following instruction is detailed:
sudo dd bs=1m if=path_of_your_image.img of=/dev/diskn
My img. is on the desktop. What path do I need to use?
Thanks
Re: SD Card for Raspbian
The system couldn't find the .img file on my Desktop. Had to cd to Desktop. Then it worked.

Hi
what is the characteristics(capacity and speed) of an micro SD card for raspberry pi b+

Re: SD Card for Raspbian
I would say that it depends on the SD card you buy...dhouha wrote:Hi

But I guess that's not really the answer you're after; maybe you need to rephrase the question

Re: SD Card for Raspbian
I think Dhouha is probably asking what kind of card he needs to buy, so as to be sure it will work with his Pi. The docs on the main site say this:
SD card size. For installation of NOOBS, the minimum recommended card size is 8GB. For image installations we recommend a minimum of 4GB; some distributions can run on much smaller cards, specifically OpenElec and Arch.
SD card class. The card class determines the sustained write speed for the card; a class 4 card will be able to write at 4MB/s, whereas a class 10 should be able to attain 10 MB/s. However it should be noted that this does not mean a class 10 card will outperform a class 4 card for general usage, because often this write speed is achieved at the cost of read speed and increased seek times.

Hello
Please what is the difference between a Raspberry pi b+ and the STM32F407VGT6 micro controller.
thank you.

Perhaps this is in the wrong thread - it does not appear to be related to the topic?dhouha wrote:Hello

One of the devices you mention is a complete single-board microcomputer capable of running an Operating System. The other is just a 'bare' microcontroller chip.

can you please give me the characteristics of each one

Re: SD Card for Raspbian
HI
I would like to reformat my 8gb SDcard. The SD associations formatter reports that the card size is 1.17gb. What do i need to do so that on reformatting the card the full 8gb will become available.
I am in the process of upgrading my NOOBS to the latest version.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Darryl

Re: SD Card for Raspbian
Stick it in your camera (in an adapter), phone or tablet and use the formatting options with one of those.
Any language using left-hand whitespace for syntax is ridiculous

Have you set the options in SD formatter to full erase (format type) and on (format size adjustment)?darrylpi wrote:I would like to reformat my 8gb SDcard.
