My First Project Idea

Tue Dec 09, 2014 8:24 am

Hi All,

My Friend is a singer and need to carry a book with lyrics every time she performs. I want a make a reading device for her using Raspberry Pi and a 10 - 12 inch screen . Just to read the lyrics with minimum memory and cpu no extra load .
Please advise where do i start like what Pi to use etc .

Thanks,
Vishal

You should probably use a tablet, an eBook, or an old laptop.

Probably a loose-leaf binder with printed sheets beats all of the above.

Start with a B+, because you will find the ethernet and USB ports invaluable during the development of your project. Once you are more experienced you may find you are able to re-implement the solution using an A+ which will give you slightly better power consumption.

I also think that you will have to work very hard to equal the portability, reliability and power consumption of a traditional book - but it will be a fun project to try.
