Other sources for monitors:
Thrift shops.
Companies upgrading desktops.
Parents with old ones hanging around gathering dust.
As noted, make sure any monitors you plan to use have either a DVI-D or HDMI connector.
Are these links just for the UK? And are any of these programs for the US?
HDMI and DVI-D are compatible. You can get a simple cable that wires an HDMI output to a DVI-D input. I use them all the time since the older monitors I buy for use with Pis tend not to have an actual HDMI input.Scarecrow342 wrote:Thank you! Scarecrow342 wrote:Hey guys new on here i have little to no experience and have no raspi. But i was planning to start a computer/programming club where they will supply them and i need some kits to buy and also some books to study because im going to learn and show people how to operate the raspi's and be the one really putting the club together and i need some steps where to start and some cool projects to start off so the idea and the club stays afloat. Any help and any guides or steps the in the right directions are greatly appreciated. I know some basic java don't know if that's useful.(I may should have put more research into it but came here right away thought it would be best) I would most likely buy a ras soon with my own money. Thanks in advanced![]()

Thanks! I also got approved and I was wondering if you have a list and an estimate of around 10~ kits and the pricing tools and essential you guys would recommend. I was also thinking of making mostly robotics and if I could get bulk of motors. And the school has monitors with dvi, mouses, keyboards and might be able to get linix on the school pc's using a virtual machine. And can someone recommend some books on robotics. Thanks for everyone's help by the way!boyoh wrote:Scarecrow342 wrote:Hey guys new on here i have little to no experience and have no raspi. You are starting at the right age 16 yrs
I think you will learn the software side ok
But find the hardware side a bit more
difficult, but don't let that worrie you
First on the hardware side, build a few
electronic projects on a breadboard
So on your shopping list you want is
1, Breadboard
2 A 0 /12v power supply
3, A sample of components
Resistors / LEDs/ Diodes /Transistors
A multi meter A Cheap one will do
You will need to know a little about
electronics before building Robots
Remember you design the the circuit
first, Then design the program to run it.
You will get a lot of help from the Forum
If you want to teach, You must learn first.
Good luck BoyOh
