What are some easy GPIO projects?

Thu Nov 27, 2014 3:14 am

I was wondering if you guys could help me come up with a few easy GPIO projects to do. I recently got a Model B+ w/ a GPIO kit, and have no ideas for what to do, besides mix and match colors with a RGBW led...

A 'steady hand game'. At it's simplest, it's just one switch, but could be expanded to add a buzzer, lights, multiple players..
note: I may or may not know what I'm talking about...

The "hello world" of the GPIO project is wiring three LEDs, three 560ohm resistors to three GPIO pins and GND. Then writing a python program using RPi.GPIO to run the LEDs as a traffic light sequence.

Stage two is reading the status of a switch and lighting or extinguishing an LED.

http://raspi.tv/2013/rpi-gpio-basics-7- ... -tutorials has some details (and links to six earlier tutorials by Alex). Those will teach you the basics of wiring and programming.
