Wed Aug 27, 2014 6:03 pm

Hello All,

Wondering if anyone can confirm (pro or con) if RP B+ could be uses as a Linux based PC and (at the same time) serve as a wireless router?

Project Name: Allspark
Use/Description: Self contained DCC and Accessory power station for Model Railroading.
Goal: Turn an Ammo box into a self contain accessory power (building and street lights), linux based PC running JMRI Software, and wireless router for connecting mobile devices (smart phone running Engine Driver, JMRI app).

Yup, no reason why it wouldn't work.

But in practical terms, buying a small standalone wireless router may well be cheaper, faster, and easier to set-up :|

Thanks. What router software is available for Raspberry Pi? Can you provide a link?

Thanks!

Since my last post I found a great walkthough on setting up Raspberry Pi as a “Wifi Closed Cloud”

http://www.pi-point.co.uk/closedcloud-walkthrough/

It appears to be a step to getting us closer to our goal for PI - JMRI / WiFi Throttle Cloud?
