usb/nic bandwidth?

Mon Aug 18, 2014 4:12 am

I have a really odd question I am looking at replacing my XBMC server/HT system with a a RPi.

Since I haven't used a RPi for anything usb/nic intensive I am hoping someone can give me advise it this is feasible.

my current server runs XBMC, a mysql database to sync all the other xbmc boxes in the house and 4 usb HDDs that holds all the music/tv/movies that it and the other boxes play from.

so what should I expect if the Pi is playing a 720p movie and one of the other boxes starts playing a video or music?

Thanks,
Yonu

That should work.

I have a Pi that I use to watch videos. The videos are stored on a USB disk. The filesystem is shared via NFS. I have another Pi that is also used to watch those videos. Both Pis can be in use at the same time without any problems.
