SD-Card lock?

Does the SD-Card have to be locked or unlocked?

It doesn't matter because the RPi doesn't bother checking.

Some weird intimidation routine ?

Mines been there going on 2 years, It'll be staying. The Pi needs Linux a lot more than Linux needs the Pi.
