Autostart to a webpage view

Fri May 30, 2014 7:07 am

Hi there!
I'm new to work with raspberry and hardly familiar with Linux ...

I try to build up a mediascreen which, when powered up should show as fast as possible a specific webpage, without any login prompts, toolbars, screensavers, update prompts, etc...
The webpage will contain text and animations (flash?) frequently updated and the whole system should run like 24/7

I made a try with archlinux, which is booting pretty fast and I could install LXDE with Midori browser. Quite good for the beginning, but not yet the performance we will need...

So, if anyone could help me finding the right components to build up my little friend? :)
Thank you for helping! :)

Flash is not supported by Adobe but there are work-arounds see Minimal Kiosk Browser http://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewt ... sk+browser

This negates the need to have a GUI Desktop as it can be run from the Command Line
Rather than negativity think outside the box !

Hi!

Thank you for your help!
I couldn't run the install.sh (commands not found) - which distri do I need to run this?

At the other hand, I found another solution which works fine for me (actually we wont need flash)

EDIT: any clue how to make this run with a lighter distri like archlinux?
THX!

Minimal Kiosk Browser is for Raspbian Wheezy Distro ?

Though Arch Linux Arm can run a browser in kiosk mode (alarmpi = arch linux arm)
