Before I start with Raspberry Pi

Mon May 26, 2014 2:00 pm

Hi guys

I am going to be using the R-Pi for a robotics project i am working on but i have a couple of questions.

Can it be set so when it is turned on / powered, it auto boots to the desktop without the need to enter a username and password?

If the above can be done, can a python script be auto launched at boot?

Thank you

If you are using Raspbian OS then rerun the raspi-config utility and choose boot to desktop:
sudo raspi-config

Yes scripts can be set to run on boot. Many threads on that in this forum...
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.

thats great.

Wasted money on a cubieboard sometime ago thinking it would be a better investment but it really wasnt. Now my budget is shot i have realised my mistake.

But, its not as if its a huge amount of money so it may still be possible. Using it for my new project http://igg.me/p/801795/x/4263332

I was going to be using cubie with android but think R-Pi would suit much better
