Lots of Makefile based builds will carry on from where they left off (as long as nothing gets updated in the source or build directories).

Hi Dougie,

Iv'e done:

1)

Code: Select all

apt-get clean
2)

Code: Select all

dpkg-query -W -f='${Installed-Size;10}\t${Package}\n' | sort -k1,1n # sort -k1,1n	List all packages by installed size (KBytes) on deb distros
3)

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get remove wolfram-engine
4) and remove oracle-java7-jdk looks big, but not sure if i need it.
5) is there any big files/ programs i can remove? Iv'e removed scratch.

How big is opencv after the make? Can i fit it onto a 4Gb Card?

Is this a NOOBS card? Or is it a Raspbian image?

Because undoing NOOBS gets 1.2GB back. But you'll need somewhere to write the images of /dev/sda5 and /dev/sda6 while you do that.

The other option is a new 8GB (or bigger) SDCard.

It,s Raspbian.

I should have checked space needed before trying to install!

Is there a clean/easy way to stop and delete the make + all the other stuff i installed for opencv? Other than writing the last backup image?

Thanks again,

Dougie.

2) backup the SD card image to my laptop
3)write that image to a new get an 8GB card

Can i continue the make on the new card?

If you can expand the file system on the new card then it'll all carry on from where you left off.

Best bet is to dd that to an 8GB card.

You'll need a USB SDCard reader
sudo dd if=/dev/mmcblk0 of=/dev/sda bs=30M

When it's done you can boot the new card and use sudo raspi-config to expand the rootfs to use the whole card. That'll get a bucket of free space for you.
