OS sd copy

Hi i have a sd card with my OS on it and would like to know if i copied the OS from one sd to a formatted sd would this work or is there another way of doing this please ,best wishes Brian. :) :)

Get a USB SDCard reader.

Plug that in to your RPi, plug the second card into the reader and it should appear as /dev/sda

sudo dd if=/dev/mmcblkp0 of=/dev/sda bs=10M
will create a clone of your current running card on the card in the reader.
Note: Any requirement to use a crystal ball or mind reading will result in me ignoring your question.

That's the disk p0 is just the first partition
