Resize Partitions

Sun Jun 03, 2012 12:58 pm

I'm drying to set up the memory card. SDHC 8GB Class4 (Kingston).
I have successfully used Win32 disc imager to create the SDHC Card. When I used compmgmt.msc in Windows it's identical to the picture the The MagPi Issue 2, Page 6 bottom right hand corner.
I then installed RacyPi in a VM (VMware) on my Windows (Vista) PC. But when I ran gparted (to resize the partitions) it doesn't recognize the card correctly. I got the message "unrecognised disk label". So I downloaded Debian 6 and installed that in another VM. I then installed gparted and ran it. And got the same error message. I am now struggling.
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks

OK - Solved it myself. I could only get gparted to run AND see the SD HC card by installing Ubuntu in my VM. For some reason it just didn't work with Debian or RacyPi

A quicker / easier option may have been to just boot your computer from a Live Linux CD (or USB) - that way you wouldn't have Windows and your VM software "getting in the way" between Linux and your SD card :)
