Win32DiskImager in the downloads section will allow you to make an image (.img file) of the entire card. Just bear in mind that SD card sizes differ from one to another even if they're marked as being the same size, so it can make life easier down the line if you create the image from a smaller card, eg, 4GB instead of 8GB for a target of 8GB cards.
I believe that Gparted can be used from a Linux Live disk to manually shrink the partition a little if needs be, but I'm unfamiliar with that process being mostly a Windows guy.
