Hi folks,

Got my Raspberry Pi in the post today... wooohhoooooo....

I've downloaded the beta logmein.deb file into my /home/pi folder.

I'm trying to install it with

sudo apt-get install logmein.deb

but it says it can't find the file.

What am I doing wrong :?:

Thanks.

You should use

Code: Select all

dpkg -i logmein.deb
to specify a local file

You are just a bit confused about what commands do.

apt-get (in fact all the apt commands) interact with a repository of software. So you are asking apt-get to look through the standard application repository for something called logmein.deb and it isn't found (surprisingly enough).

To install a local .deb file you use the following command

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i logmein.deb
if you want to get rid of it later use

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -r logmein
Beaten by JeremyF but I will post my reply as it contains a bit more information.

BiggJeffiE,

Where did you find the logmein.deb? This is a logmein client? I'm assuming you did this so you have a always on PC accessible from the web?
