XRDP and SAMBA via Internet

Sat Dec 21, 2013 11:51 pm

Hello everyone,

I have finally set up my RPi exactly the way i wanted. I have a dual boot system with Raspbian and OpenELEC. On Raspbian i have set up xrdp (with static IP address) for remote access and Samba for NAS capabilities. The OpenELEC is more or less standard i have just installed the desired add-ons. I have also created an image of my SD card and saved it on my computer as a clean install with the packages i need.

The way it is now, i can access it either via xrdp or via the mapped network drive i have created on my computer. I also use PocketCloud (for remote access) and FileExplorer (access to the NAS) from my iOS devices. I can only access it on my local network though.

I would like to be able to access both of the above services via Internet. For example, when i am shooting a picture with my phone i can later on upload it to my drive from anywhere. Also when i want to change a setting i would like to be able to remote access my system via RDP.

I have forwarded some ports on my router but it doesn't seem to work. Since i am a new user to all these, could you please instruct me with simple steps what settings i need to set (either on router or on the OS) in order to be able to achieve the desired results?

Thank you very much in advance!

This google search may offer some suggestions

It might be helpful to look into BarracudaDrive for Raspberry Pi

I don't know how to thank you, you are a GoodGuy :)

BarracudaDrive did the trick... Easy to set set up and straightforword!

Thank you very much! With your help I have now completed the Raspberry Pi set up!
