Help Me setup ASAP

Tue Dec 03, 2013 10:06 pm

Equipment:
HP w2207h monitor
generic HDMI
Raspberry Pi model B
Dynex DX-WLMSE mouse
Generic USB Keyboard
Logitech Mouse M-UAE96
Sabrent 7 port powered USB hub
SanDisk Ultra Class 10 8GB
Generic 2GB Micro SD in Transcend adapter
Micro USB from LG smart phone
(Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 500GB external HD, not using yet but would like to)

It doesn't seem to connect. I just got it from Amazon today. I opened everything, put it in its clear plastic case. I loaded OpenElec on the 2GB card and Rasbian on the 8GB. When I put the OpenElec card in and plug it in to HDMI then plug in the RPi the XBMC interface shows up. So to interact, I plug in my dynex wireless mouse. The display goes dark and says no signal, but the Pi lights are still on. I unplug HDMI and plug it back in; nothing. So I unplug everything and try again. This time with the Logitech mouse. It doesn't kill the display but it doesnt work. I tried the keyboard. Nothing. So I unplug everything and try the Raspbian card. This won't even give a signal to the display. I know the display works because I'm using it right now for my desktop. The HDMI works, I've used it with my laptop. The Logitech mouse works, plug and play. The Dynex Mouse also works. The keyboard works. I've used it with a Wii, my laptop and a desktop. The 2GB card works, I used it in a phone. The 8GB works, tested in a camera. The Micro USB works, I use it every night to charge my phone. So I'm not sure if I'm just plugging it in in the wrong order or what. Please help?

What is the output ratings of your power supply?
The wireless mouse might be a problem because It may take too much power. Try as wired mouse.
Make sure the TV is on before the RPi.
Unless specified otherwise my response is based on the latest and fully updated RPiOS Buster w/ Desktop OS.

Don't plug the mouse dongle into the RPi board while it's running. The sudden power drop will cause the RPi to stop running.

Use a powered USB hub.
