What would you like it to do?

Download NOOBS and install XBMC and it becomes a mediaplayer (turns your TV into a SmartTV)
Download NOOBS and install Raspbian and it can do lots of the stuff you can do on a laptop plus a whole bunch more. Although it isn't in any way as quick as my Win8.1 machine.
Start X-windows and you can run a web browser (slowly).

The basic use case is, "here's a computer, connect it to your LAN and find something to do with it. Now you've done that try programming it to do something different.".

Rather than it being a commodity system like a Windows machine or an Apple Mac (which normally present you with a very high speed processor and a web browser that's ready to run out of the box).

If that's all you want to do you're better off with one of those Android HDMI sticks. They usually support flash and come with a hardware accelerated web browser.

Rasperry Pi is not a "consumer device".

I agree with gkreidl. The Pi is for tinkering , and things like
Netflix and Flash websites simply don't work.
