Just looking for a little help if it is at all possible.

I am using my Rpi with OpenELEC but require it to output a 1080i signal rather than 1080p. There are reasons for needing to do this before anyone asks.

I have tried everything I can think of to get it to force to that resolution. My hdmi_mode in config.txt gets ignored and selecting 1920x1060@50 in the OpenELEC settings as well as 50i as the refresh rate still results in a progressive scan signal being sent.

Please let me know if this is at all possible to do as I am tearing my hair out trying to get this to work

Regards

Sam

sounds like you have the telly as me - a five year old philips tv which only accepts 1080i (or 720p which quite frankly is good enough) - but I'd be interested in the solution

Oh no a 1080p signal displays fine. But my projector has a VP3D1 box attached and will only go into side by side mode on a 1080i signal.

Further to what I originally posted it looks like config.txt is being respected up until OpenELEC loads

It is 1080i until I get the GUI then it switches to 1080p. Any ideas on how to stop this?

Solved it.

It is to do with XBMC going into full screen mode.

If you force windowed and then set the resolution in advancedsettings.xml it will not reset your display mode.
