Hi All,
I understand what it was once like when you had really no idea where to start. So i hope I've made the first 3 of what will be many video's to help them on the road to getting some real good use out of a Raspberry Pi. ALL comments welcome.
Part 1 : Unboxing of my Raspberry Pi
Part 2: Raspberry Pi – Preparing the SD card
Part 3: Raspberry Pi – Booting for the first

hi i liked your preparing the sd card video. it went by a little fast but i definately learned something. did you have to format your sd card? also you unzipped the fedora and the win32diskimager in the same folder is that necessary or just convenient?

Thank you for a much more informative first post than a lot I have read on here... and welcome to the Forum!
I await with Part 4 of your video with interest (and hopefully subsequent ones also) to show users what to do after they have reached the 'Login' prompt stage.
Keep up the good work!

Yeah, sorry about the speed, I always work a million miles an hour.
I didn't need to format the CD card has it was completely new out of the wrapper.
And I put everything in the same folder for convenient yes
See my new videos on my channel for some more beginners guides.

There are still getting started guides. I'm open to video requests, i've got a good team of Network security engineers (and general geeks) I work with who will hopefully start making videos when they get their Pi.

An excellent set of videos. They should be mandatory for all new users.
These are just the ticket for anybody who doesn't know what the first steps should look like. It can be very confusing if you don't know what's normal and what is not.

I noticed that you had an overscan problem with Fedora Remix, meaning that some of the text was lost off the edge of the screen. We have had a tough time explaining this problem and its fix to the less technical people.
If you can reproduce this problem, could you make a video of the problem (very difficult to explain in words) and the fix?
The fix is shown in

There are two ways to edit the config file. Pick whichever you are happier with.
1. On the RPi itself, issue the command
sudo nano /boot/config.txt
Use Ctrl-O to save the file and Ctrl-X to exit the editor
To ensure the boot partition is properly closed, reboot using the command
sudo reboot
2. You could pull the SD card out of the RPi and use a Windows computer to edit a file called config.txt. Might be less scary for the novices. Remember to unmount the SD card properly before removing it from the PC.
This is a bit ambitious, you might want to try some more basic video tutorials first. No pressure.
