Can you download all of the images on to one SD card?

From what I have read, it appears that it is possible to download all of the images on the downloads page on to one SD card, and somehow select which one you wish to use on start-up - is that correct?  Could you then (easily!) switch between the images?

Also, will they all fit on to an 8GB SD card?

well, yes you can create more than one partition, and put a distro on each one, but the number of partitions might be limited, and there might become available many more than four (each one taking about 2GB).

At the moment however there is no way to select one to boot, it simply boots the first partition only.

I know I've been encouraging people to download and try all three, but I meant one at a time I'm not aware of any (present) method for doing what you suggest, but I'm sure eventually someone will figure out a way to dual boot our pis!

Much easier to just buy multiple SD cards!

you could possibly use a kexec enabled kernel and pivot_root/switchroot but that would be an advanced topic and probably not really worth the effort because as jamesH says above it's much easier and less problematic to use use multiple sd cards

I keep looking for things I am certain someone somewhere must have on the market. For example, someone must sell flat sheets of plastic or cardboard to store SD cards in- one with little pouches that can be labeled. I have no idea what to call them, but people can't just be leaving unlabeled cards mixed in their junk drawers or whatever... It would be handy for the Pi, just keep all the OS'es handy tucked nice and flat under the Raspi!

After that, I suppose I'll find a pouch, or better still flat speaker, I can attach to my emedia player/book reader, so i can have earbuds or better still not need them...

Search for "sd card holder" on ebay – lots of options – will probably buy one myself as i have dozens of the darn things. . .

i"ve bought one of item 320885178964 on a BIN for less than £3 holds 18 cards - we"ll see how it goes.
