UK power supply in US 110V

Sun Feb 03, 2013 3:21 pm

I have the Raspberry Pi Kit from Maplin and I am setting it up in the US. It has the British plug and power supply. Will it work on 120V US voltage with just a plug-in adapter? Or, will it not get enough current? Thanks.

Read the spec on the power supply (it'll be written on it somewhere) Check the INPUT settings - usually they can cope with 110 to 240v. If it just says 240v then you should get a new US supply. The current won't be a problem unless it's also a problem in the UK!

If it's a switch mode power supply then it should be able to handle either 110v or 240v, however always check the label first.

Wow!
"Necro"ing old threads, particularly this old, is generally frowned upon, in part because the information can be out of date.
But I don't think that applies here!

There's a lot of people who don't seem to come back and say thank you, so the courtesy is much appreciated.

Reporting a result after "6 years testing" will surely be welcomed.... :D
